Recipe Ingrdients
  • 1 cup Parboiled Rice (idli-dosa rice or short-grain rice)
  • 1 cup Basmati Rice (or any rice)
  • 1/2 cup Whole Urad Dal (skinned) or split Urad Dal
  • 1/4 cup Poha (flattened rice / aval)
  • 1/2 tablespoon Fenugreek Seeds (methi)
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil, for greasing

Recipe Instructions

1.Firstly, soak dal, rice and soyabean separately in bowls. 2.Add methi seeds and chana dal together in the bowl of urad dal. Soak the rice atleast 5-6 hours. 3.Once soaked, grind all the ingredients together into a thick and consistent paste. Add a little bit of water and grind again. 4.Add the salt and stir well to combine. Cover the bowl and ferment the Batter for at least 6 hours or overnight. 5.Once fermented, mix again. Steam in an idli steamer and serve hot with sambar and nariyal ki chutney alongside.
